Ingredients

  • Seitan pieces
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • All purpose flour
  • Vegan butter or olive oil
  • Shallot sliced
  • Garlic chopped
  • White wine
  • Vegetable broth
  • Lemon sliced
  • Capers
  • Fresh parsley

How to Make

  1. Season the seitan with salt and pepper. Coat it lightly with flour.
  2. Heat some butter or oil in a pan. Cook the seitan until golden and warm. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan add more butter or oil. Add shallot and garlic and cook for about one minute.
  4. Pour in white wine and scrape the bottom of the pan. Add vegetable broth and let it simmer for five minutes.
  5. Add lemon slices, capers, and the cooked seitan back to the pan. Pour in a little more broth and let it cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Sprinkle with parsley and serve with pasta, bread, or mashed potatoes.
